Since a surprise rezoning announcement in December, the Unitary Plan has been under fire from a vocal group of Auckland residents concentrated in the eastern bays. A seven-hour meeting (described as “the worst Auckland Council meeting of all time”) resulted in a back-down from the Council.
What does this mean for you? This controversy may well delay the implementation of the Unitary Plan further, which will hopefully stretch out that window of opportunity for building granny flats (minor dwellings). We’re advising all our client to take advantage of these ridiculously fantastic interest rates and get their minor dwelling plans submitted now while they still have the chance.
